KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS (The war that will never be forgotten by any true Indian)

The Kargil War fought in between India and Pakistan, from 3rd May 1999- 26 July 1999, was the bravest war ever fought in the history of India and the world, which is popularly known as Operation Vijay. Like many wars this war also a conflict to regain the position of land which is Kargil for Indians.

Kargil situated in Jammu and Kashmir (The Paradise of World), one of the most beautiful places of the world was captured By the Pakistani Militants and Armies on 3rd May 1999, and suddenly they took over many parts of our Kargil by entering through LOC Kargil, taking the local peoples under the siege of Pakistani Army. (As said by some locals).

However, soon after this happened our Indian Embassy and Indian Government (Atal – Bihari Bajpayee, Prime Minister of India, then and K. R. Narayan) got to know about this along with the Indian army who eventually went out to for the rescue the sieged Kargil.

But as soon as the first phase of Indian army reached Kargil, they were attacked which tragically killed 5 Indian Soldiers.

Soon after wads on 9th May, the Pakistani Army started shelling and more Indian Camps were damaged by the sudden and massive firing of from the Pakistani Side and in many places like Dras, Kaskskar and Muskoh districts were captured. Worried by this situation more Indian armies were sent for the rescue by the mid course of May.

Soon after that the Indian Army started airstrikes after getting the necessary permissions from our Indian Government, and subsequently the whole nation got to know about this situation and every Indian stood beside our armies. Soon after that one IAF MiG – 27, one of the best aircrafts of India were shot down by, the Pakistani military side, and one of our Pilot Lieutenant Kambampati Nachiketa, was captured by Pakistani Millitary, and declared as prisoners of war by Pakistani Army, But by the brave efforts of Our President K. R . Narayan, and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Bajpayee, she was released and sent back to our Nation.

Besides that the great Gunjan Saxena, one the first female and finest officers were willing to join our Indian Army, amidst this Kargil War zone, in order to serve our Nation, fighting away also all the social stereotypes of a female joining in the Indian Army. She got mostly a warm welcome from the Indian Army.

But in the meantime, a tragic incident took place which claimed the lives of 4 crew members as another Mig Fighter aircraft was brought down by the Pakistani forces. This news saddened the entire Indian Army and the entire Nation too.

But still we focused on the war’s progress and had the optimistic view of winning the war to regain our Kargil, back from our enemies. Soon the Pakistani Military started shelling and gunning down our National Highways situated in Kashmir and Ladakh.

Indian Army started and did a major progress by re-capturing 2 main Positions in the Batalik district of Kargil, facing our enemies in a stronger way.

The War started on and oursoldiers tapped the conversations Gen. Perverez Musharaff and Lft. General Aziz Khan, and marked the Pakistani troops Movement and further attacked, across the Loc Kargil Valley. Then in the Mid-June the Indian forces Tooling in Dras District of Kargil, after a huge war and brave battle injuring and wounding many on both sides, and made a successful and significant move in the war, bringing the waves of success for India in the war.

With the Federal Government’s pressure Pakistani Army, begun retreating and stepping away, from Indian occupied Kashmir, and we started getting our Paradise Kashmir, back from Pakistani troops, and our Indian Army also towards Tiger Hill of Kashmir.

Then on 4 July 1999, 3 Indian Regiments eliminated the Pakistani Northern Light Infantry, in the Battle of Tiger Hill.

Soon another fierce Battle started with our enemies, but we regained our Tiger Hill back completely from our enemies after a battle of twelve hours, claiming and injuring lives on both sides.

On the following day, Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Shariff, announced Pakistani armies withdrawal from Kargil after meeting with Bill Clinton . Meanwhile Indian troops started, taking control of Dras district of Kargil, Kashmir.

Finally, on 14 July 1999, our Prime Minister, declared Operation Vijay, a complete success, making our entire India, proud of the Indian Army and soon negations of after war started with Pakistan.

Successfully, on 26 July 1999, with Indian armies announcements, of complete withdrawal of Pakistani forces and militants of from our land, Kargil, and that we India have won the Kargil war successfully, making us proud with joy.

Here, in this war almost 527 Indian lost their lives, and also 500-4000 lives lost in their side for the sake of their Countries, and more than 1000 peoples were wounded on Indian side, and plenty got injured of the Pakistani side too.

The Entire World created a negative impact on Pakistan for invigilating Indian land forcefully. So, since the war ended on 26th July 1999, That day is celebrated in India as Kargil Vijay (Victory) Diwas (Day), and we all give special salutation to the entire Indian Army every year on that day.

Many movies and films were made Based on The Victorious Kargil War, Like Border, Loc Kargil, Gunjan Saxena, and even in movies like

“No One Killed Jessic” based on the infamous Jessica Lal Case, we can see Glimpse of The mighty Kargil War.

Even Songs like “Sandeshe Ate Hae” an emotional song, Sung by Sonu Nigam, dedicating to our Indian Army of the Movie “Border” Still brings tears to our eyes and makes us feel proud of The Kargil War, and sacrifices made by our Indian Army.

I am and will always feel proud of our Indian Army and this Kargil Vijay Diwas (Kargil Victory Day) and will remember them always on this day 26 July, every year.
